I came across an article and think that's woth sharing.

Does Haiti's Crisis Call for a New Photojournalism?

Last week’s crisis in Haiti has yielded a significant response from photographers and editors in the photojournalism community. Photographers were sent to Haiti on assignment, and others left for the Carribean on spec to document the devastation and help tell the tragic story.

In looking at the various outlets for imagery from Haiti, I’m wondering if there might be a new way that photojournalism could capture a story of this magnitude, and if the current, traditional way in which multiple media outlets send multiple photographers to places of crisis has preventable pitfalls of its own.

I finished reading Desert Flower by Waris Dirie. It made me more sensible for woman and African traditions, also concerning circumcision. It is shocking that things like this happen and there are so many civil wars going on, people are left with nothing. I always wanted to do charity work, especially helping people or nature. But somehow other things happened and I suddenly was a university student trying to fit in and get good marks. Last semester break I tried to focus on charity work again. I wanted to find something where I could actually do something. I don’t have enough money to donate it and I like the idea of doing something and seeing the results more than hoping that my money reaches the right people. I did research on how to help organisations but always ended up being asked to donate money or the destinations were in other counties. Now I realise that I might have set my goal too high. Instead of starting to help people far away (which just needs money and more time than I have right now) I will now try to find something at my local area. I was wondering what kind of experience you have with charity work? Where did you start? Did you ever consider it?

Luke & Charlie reminding people that everything is OK on the NYC subway. Someone should do that on my way to university on the tram. People are always so annoyed, they need to cheer up.
